Packaging/Transloading

We offer several services categorized as packaging and transloading. Sometimes the terms packaging and transloading are used interchangeably, but we distinguish packaging as any operation that results in material being transferred to a form such as a gaylord box, super sack/big bag/FIBC, or 25kg bags. There are other forms of packaging, but these are the most commmon.

All of our facilities offer similar packaging and transloading services. A list of the most common services we offer are listed below.

Packaging

Whether utilizing our standard non-branded packaging supplies or supplies you provide, we package your product to your specifications. With rail siding at all of our warehouse facilities, we can directly transfer from railcar to gaylord boxes (aka: bulk boxes, gaylords, or octabins) and super sacks (aka: big bags or FIBC) and put away to inventory or stage for immediate shipment.

We commonly transfer from covered hopper cars with pneumatic transfer outlets typical in plastics distribution, but have transferred other products from box cars and flat cars as well and will always explore the options for transferring from any car type your product requires.

For plastics, pneumatic conveying equipment is used for the transfer of your material and care is always taken to keep them contaminant-free. Anything that contacts your material, including our transfer units, hoppers, bins, piping and any adapters are thoroughly cleaned before switching to another type of resin. Use of hard-pipe is kept to a minimum as our heavy-duty opaque flex piping allows for easier disconnecting, cleaning out, and visual inspection. We have dedicated equipment to handle colored resins as an additional step to avoid any possible contamination with natural and white resins. Depending on the expected volume, we can also dedicate equipment for use with only your material.

Transloading (De-Packaging)

While packaging from bulk truck or railcar is typical with domestic plastics distribution, you may have a need for transloading by de-packaging. This is especially common with bulk imported materials available in super sacks and 25kg bags but where the end-user needs the material delivered in another form such as railcar or silo.

We can take your material from a form such as super sacks, gaylord boxes, or 25kg bags and transfer it to railcar, bulk truck, sea-bulk lined containers, or bare containers. As with our packaging processes, care is always taken to keep your materials contaminant-free and dedicated equipment can be provided if needed.

By combining our de-packaging and packaging processes, we can re-package your materials as well.

Transloading

With our rail-served facilities, we’re positioned to provide several rail transloading services. We transload several hundred railcars a year of plastics for delivery to end-users, typically to silos. As a freight broker specializing in pneumatic bulk delivery of plastics, we can provide a complete logistics solution for the distribution of your materials. The flow can be reversed as well to provide solutions for loading railcars from truck.

Beyond plastics, we offer storage and transloading for railcars of non-hazardous dry bulk materials. Box cars can also be received at our warehouses for loading or unloading.  We have experience handling paper rolls and we’ve also transloaded flat cars of steel plates directly to flatbed trucks. We have the core rail and warehouse assets to handle many other commodities. If you have anything needing transloading in the southeastern United States, contact us and we’ll review the handling requirements specific to the situation to determine if we can handle it for you.
